Privacy policy
The short version: this website does not track you. It sets no cookies and shows no ads. It counts page views without knowing who you are, and we only learn about you when you choose to write to us or call us.
Who we are
Pleiad Studio (“Pleiad”, “we”, “us”) is a design studio in Birmingham, Alabama, run by Truman Muska and Estella Wollny. For anything on this page, write to hello@pleiad.studio or call (832) 499 4197.
What we collect, and when
When you browse. Each time a page opens, the site counts the view. The count keeps the page, the date, the country your connection comes from, whether it was a phone or a computer, the website that linked you here, and, if you arrived from one of our printed letters, which letter it was. It keeps no IP address, no cookie and nothing that says who you are. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the view is not counted at all. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which loads a small script from Cloudflare to count visits and measure how fast pages load. It sets no cookies and does not follow you from site to site. Like almost every website, the company that hosts it, Cloudflare, also keeps standard server logs (your IP address, your browser, the page asked for and the time) to keep the site running and secure. We do not use those logs to identify or profile anyone.
When you use the contact form. When you press send, the form sends us what you typed: your message, the services and budget you picked, your name and your email address, along with the page you sent it from, your country, and which of our letters brought you here, if one did. We keep it in a database so no message gets lost, and we are told about it by email. If the form cannot reach us, it opens your own email app with the message written out instead, and nothing is sent until you send that email yourself.
When you email or call us. We receive what you choose to share, usually your name, your email address or phone number, and what you would like help with.
How we use it
Only to reply to you, to talk through your project and, if we work together, to do the work and send invoices. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Our email runs on Google Workspace, so messages you send us are stored by Google on our behalf. The site and its form run on Cloudflare, so what you send through the form and the page counts are stored by Cloudflare on our behalf. We share information with anyone else only if the law requires it.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner to accept. It keeps a few small notes in your own browser to make the site work, and they never leave your device:
- Session storage remembers, for as long as your tab is open, that the page transition has played, where you were on a page so the back button returns you to the same spot, and which of our letters you arrived from, if any. It clears itself when you close the tab.
- Local storage keeps your best score in the little game in the footer, so it is still there next time. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Outside services and links
Fonts. The typefaces on this site load from Google Fonts. When they do, your browser asks Google’s servers for the font files, which tells Google your IP address and browser. Google describes how it handles that in its privacy policy (opens in a new tab). Cloudflare Web Analytics, described above, loads its script from Cloudflare. Everything else on the site, the photographs and films included, comes from our own server.
Links. The site links to our Instagram and LinkedIn pages, and the “Ask an AI” buttons open ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Perplexity with a question about Pleiad already typed in. That question holds nothing about you. Once you follow a link, the other site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep it
We keep emails and project records for as long as we need them to answer you, do the work and keep the records a business must keep. If you ask us to delete what we hold about you, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@pleiad.studio and we will answer within 30 days. Because the site does not track you, there is nothing to opt out of, and we treat a browser’s Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal as already honoured.
Children
This site is meant for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection, runs no code from outside services, and keeps no database of visitors, so there is very little to lose.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we ever add analytics or a form service, this page will say so before it starts.
