Rooted in place, built for the future.
A $43 million capital campaign for Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Overview
A symbol of hope that unified a community around a $43M vision
Highland Park United Methodist Church has stood at the heart of Dallas for over a century. When it came time to launch a $43 million capital campaign, they needed more than a fundraising effort. They needed a vision that would inspire their congregation to build the church’s future together. Partnering with Tegan Digital, HPUMC transformed that vision into Project Mockingbird, a unifying theme and brand rooted in both place and purpose.

Challenge
Rallying a congregation around something bigger than a fundraising goal
Highland Park United Methodist Church set out to raise $43 million to fund its next chapter. The church needed a way to bring its community together around a unifying theme, something that transcended the dollars and connected to a deeper sense of identity and mission. The challenge was clear: create a campaign that would inspire, mobilize, and unite.
Project plan
Building a brand system rooted in place, purpose, and momentum
Drawing inspiration from the church’s address on Mockingbird Lane and Texas’ state bird, the campaign team helped craft the name Project Mockingbird. The mockingbird became a symbol of hope, renewal, and purpose: familiar yet bold, a voice that carries. The team built a visual identity that honored HPUMC’s tradition while embracing modern sensibility, creating a flexible campaign system designed to inspire across every touchpoint.

Execution
From logo to landing page, bringing the vision to life
The team created a comprehensive brand system including logo design inspired by Cox Chapel’s stained glass, environmental signage, print collateral, merchandise, and digital touchpoints. A dedicated landing page brought the campaign story online, while authentic photography spotlighted real members of the congregation. Every piece was crafted to spark conversation, connection, and commitment, with consistent execution across print, digital, and social channels.

Results
A campaign that exceeded its goal and united a community
With clear branding, powerful storytelling, and a unifying theme, HPUMC launched its $43 million capital campaign with conviction and energy. The result was a campaign that not only exceeded its goal ahead of schedule, but united the community with remarkable momentum. Most importantly, Project Mockingbird established a lasting framework HPUMC can continue to build upon, anchoring the church’s next chapter in both its historic foundation and its vision for the future.
